Workshop on the Joint Research Project

The ACFN and the Carbon Trust jointly held the final workshop on 16 March 2016 in Guangzhou to review the outcome of the study which has been jointly conducted by the Carbon Trust and Asia Carbon Footprint Network during August 2015 to March 2016. With a goal to minimize costs and improve efficiency for both labeling scheme operators and the business sector, the study conducted a technical assessment of the major differences and comparability between carbon labelling schemes in Asia, and developed a roadmap of six pathways of collaboration and harmonization among the schemes. Based on the proposed pathways, the workshop further formulated an action plan for ACFN on information sharing, technical alignment of national schemes and methodologies, and mutual recognition of labeling among others.

On the following day, the ACFN got opportunities to introduce (1) the Network, (2) key outcomes of the Joint Research Project, and the best practices of carbon footprinting and labelling schemes to the participants in the UK-South China Low Carbon Week.
